Ancient
city of Down. Downpatrick is the administrative centre of Historic
Down District, and with a population of 10,113 has the highest populous
in Down. There are many sites to visit in this town and its surrounds.
Downpatrick is home to Down County Museum, Down Cathedral and adjacent
to is the final resting place of Saint Patrick, along with Saints
Brigid and Colmcille. Downpatrick Race Course is home of the Ulster
National, and plays host to a series of meetings throughout the
year.
A
lot of regeneration has taken place in Downpatrick and testament
to the investment in the area, large retail chains have built stores
ie Safeway, Super Valu, Boots. The IDB Retail Park on Belfast Road,
Downpatrick is a major boost for investment opportunity into our
Historic Region.
